Bass Baritone, Andrew Young graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with a Masters in Opera. Andrew was also a recipient of the inaugural Helpmann Family Foundation Fellowship during his studies at the Conservatorium.
After graduation he became a member of the Young Artists Programme with Opera Queensland. As a young artist he sang roles including; Ferrando in Il trovatore, Guglielmo in Cosi fan tutte and the Pish Tush in the Mikado.
Andrew has sung in his homeland of Australia as well as internationally in such countries as England, Germany, Austria and Italy. While living in London, England, he sang both leading and supporting roles with various opera companies & festivals including Grange Park Opera, Carl Rosa Opera Company, Buxton Festival, Swansea City Opera and Pimlico Opera where he sang his first Dulcamara in L'elisir d'amore.
In 2007 Andrew was a member of the Ensemble of the Landesbühnen Sachsen where he sang Kuno in der Freischütz, Lodovico in Otello and Bogumil in der Bettelstudent.
As a freelancer Andrew has appeared with Theater Hof Lämmermeier in Frau Luna, Landestheater Rudolstadt as Herr Reich in Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor, the Pasinger Fabrik Munich as Benoit/Alcindoro in La bohème and Herr Reich in Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor and with the Monschau Klassik Festival as Kuno in Der Freischütz and Dr. Hinzelmann in Im weissen Rössl.
He sang the role of King Nobel in the World Premiere of Reinecke Fuchs for the Opernwerkstatt am Rhein in 2011.
Starting in September 2015 Andrew will be appearing as Bartolo in Le nozze di Figaro and the Commendatore in Don Giovanni for the Hamburger Kammeroper.
